Join us in the relaxed surroundings of Nest Studio to learn the fundamentals of Botanical watercolour and drawing. Taught by Botanical Artist Jan Pittman
In this course, you will learn..
Drawing shapes and shading to give a 3D effect.
Drawing from observation – leaves, fruits (eg gumnuts) and wood
Using watercolour - remember, less is more – using tiny bits of paint
and tiny amounts of water, to create shapes, and give a 3D effect.
Mixing colours to make new colours.
Composition – how to place items on the page.
Jan Pittman lives in Gidgegannup and is a member of the Watercolour Society of
WA, the Australian Guild of Realistic Artists, the Wildflower Society of WA, and the
Botanical Art Society of Australia. She has won awards at many shows and
exhibitions and was a finalist in the Mortimore Prize for realistic painting in 2012,
and the inaugural Splash Award for Contemporary Watercolour in 2018. Jan has
travelled with members of the Watercolour Society of WA to China and Italy to
participate in watercolour exhibitions, and will shortly travel with them to India for
another exhibition. She paints portraits, flowers, animals, birds, shells and
interesting objects, in a realistic style
