Hosted by Neil Elliot http://www.neilelliott.com
In this two-day workshop, Neil will guide you through basic woodworking and metalworking techniques using up-cycled and found objects.
You will learn how to operate basic hand-held power tools safely, and how to apply your newly acquired skills to your sculpture.
The objective of this project is to work to produce fun pieces of sculpture using up-cycled materials and found objects.
You will be required to bring along your own materials (found objects and up-cycled objects) along with some basic tools.
The more you have the better your piece will be!
Materials can be sourced from your own property or any unwanted materials you may find lying around. Timber and light weight metals are preferred.
Suggestions of appropriate items to bring:
Old wooden chair, scrap timber pieces (shaped) old tools, old car parts (small), wire, rusty nails, old paint brushes, old cutlery, old washers, pressed tin, old cogs, old tin signs, old cow bells, old tins of paint, old kitchen tools, old horse shoes, bale hooks, old sheep shears, old plough blades etc.
You will also be required to bring some basic tools if possible: Cordless drill, hammer, screwdrivers, saw.
The materials you bring along will determine your subject matter.
I suggest that once you have a good collection of materials together, you look closely at them and allow them to dictate what you make. If you can clearly see what you are going to make, bring along some reference material.
